Pacific Netting Products (PNP), a Kingston, Washington-based leader in floating waterway safety systems, has successfully completed the design, engineering, and delivery of its largest Fast Water Series Public Safety Barrier project to date. The project supports Ontario Power Generation’s Des Joachims Generating Station and McConnell Lake Control Dam. As a result, it helps protect critical hydroelectric infrastructure while improving public safety in a challenging fast-water environment.

The installation includes PNP’s advanced co-extruded HDPE public safety barriers, and highly visible hazard buoys. PNP designed each component for all-season long-term durability. In addition, the system reduces maintenance requirements and maximizes reliability in demanding hydroelectric applications.

Engineered for Demanding Hydroelectric Environments

PNP developed the Fast Water Series to withstand high water velocities, seasonal fluctuations, debris loading, ice conditions, and extreme weather. Consequently, these barrier systems perform year-round in harsh conditions. They also protect the public from hazardous and life threating in-water conditions. At the same time, they help facility operators safeguard valuable infrastructure and maintain efficient operations.

For many years, PNP has partnered with Ontario Power Generation to develop high-performance safety barrier systems. Together, the two entities have addressed the unique challenges of hydroelectric facilities across multiple installations. Furthermore, PNP combines engineering expertise, quality manufacturing, and responsive customer support throughout every stage of each project. From the initial design to final delivery, the company focuses on dependable performance and long-term value.

This project marks the largest Fast Water Series Public Safety Barrier delivery in PNP’s history. Therefore, it represents an important milestone for the company. It also strengthens PNP’s reputation as a trusted leader in floating HDPE barrier systems, public safety solutions, and debris management technologies. Ultimately, PNP continues to deliver cost-effective solutions that improve public safety, protect critical assets, and support long-term operational success.
