Pacific Netting Products was contracted to manufacture and install a spectator protection netting system behind home plate and along the first and third baselines at Gene Lobe Field at Kitsap County Fairgrounds. Originally, this was the home of the Kitsap BlueJackets, an amateur baseball team. The netting prevented foul and tipped balls from entering the spectator area adjacent to the field.
Spectators Can Safely Watch the Baseball Games
The Kitsap BlueJackets team had exclusive rights to the field from 2004 to 2016, while they were in the West Coast League, a collegiate summer baseball league. But since then, the Gene Lobe Field hosts high school and youth baseball games throughout the year.Parks director Jim Dunwiddie explained that “the BlueJackets previously received a priority usage exemption as a historic user, having played at Gene Lobe since 2004.” – from an article in the Kitsap Sun.

Dyneema® Fiber Protection Netting
Pacific Netting Products produces Dyneema® netting locally in Kingston, WA. Therefore, each netting product can be customized to meet the exact needs of the project. Dyneema is the proprietary brand name of HMPE (high modulus polyethylene) fiber manufactured by DSM. This man-made fiber is among the strongest fibers manufactured today. Technically, it is an ultra-high molecular weight, low density, highly crystalline linear polyethylene fiber. Ropes and cordage products made from Dyneema fiber are as strong or stronger than equivalent-sized steel wire ropes but weigh 85% less. Pacific Netting Product has designed and produced more than six million square feet of protective netting systems using Dyneema fiber support ropes and netting. For example, the Gene Globe field spectator protection system was made with Dyneema fiber netting.
