Northport Power Station Barrier Net
Pacific Netting Products partnered with National Grid, one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the US, to enhance environmental protection at the Northport Power Station. The goal was to reduce fish mortality by preventing impingement at the dilution pump intake. The custom-designed barrier net slows intake velocities, allowing fish to avoid entrapment. This floatable solution ensures the facility meets environmental compliance regulations while maintaining efficient operations.
The Northport Power Station, commonly referred to as “The Stacks” by locals, is Long Island’s largest power generation facility. Situated in Fort Salonga on the island’s North Shore, this plant produces electricity using natural gas and conventional oil.
This project highlights Pacific Netting Products’ expertise in marine protection and regulatory compliance. The barrier net effectively safeguards fish populations while supporting sustainable energy production.
